The Ministry of Culture and Tourism Special Awards found their owners at the ceremony held in the historical hall of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that they will implement important projects that will bring excitement and pride side by side in 2023, the 100th anniversary of the Republic.

Minister Ersoy said that the greatest strength of countries and nations is human potential, and another important element is the value given to culture and art.

Stating that the Turkish nation, with its great and glorious past, has both, Ersoy said, “As the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we have worked hard to support our culture and art in our work under the leadership of our President, and we have taken all kinds of steps. We brought the works of this land from abroad. We have restored the relics and works of our ancestors. We brought tradition and modernity side by side according to the needs of the age. Our Rami Library, which we opened last week, was the best example of this cultural synthesis.” used the phrases.

Emphasizing that with their work, they ensure that culture and tourism are an ecosystem that supports and strengthens each other, Ersoy noted that they never made one-sided plans when implementing projects.

“Culture and art events have given positive momentum to our tourism”

Ersoy pointed out that the Rami Library is a multi-faceted project that includes culture, art, the nation’s garden, manuscripts and Atatürk’s library.

“We also thought multi-dimensionally in our cultural path festivals. We have completed the restoration and renovations on the routes we have drawn before the festivals. We have made extensive preparations so that our people can easily access cultural and artistic activities. In this way, there was a significant revival in tourism. Culture and arts events have given a positive impetus to our tourism. The income thus generated also contributed to cultural and artistic activities. Our country has hosted cultural and artistic activities that very few countries in the world can do. I would like to express that the hosting we do is also a source of pride for us. We have completed the year 2022 to the fullest. As the Ministry of Culture and Tourism family, we will implement important projects where excitement and pride will come together for 2023, the 100th anniversary of our Republic.”

Emphasizing that the Ministry has almost become an executive ministry with the projects they have realized, they have signed many projects that are symbolic for Turkey and they continue to do so, Ersoy said, “We have the Maiden’s Tower and the Historical Alsancak Monopoly Factory Transformation Project next.” used the phrases.

“It is of great importance to maintain the Ahi organization today”

Minister Ersoy congratulated Akın Gökyay, who pioneered the establishment of the Gökyay Foundation Chess Museum.

Pointing out that this museum, which emerged as a result of great efforts and great determination, is a must-see place for all chess lovers, Ersoy said:

“Mr. Gökyay’s exhibition of more than 700 chess sets in this museum, which he started in 1975, played a very important role in the young people’s recognition and love of chess. This collection also entered the Guinness Book of Records and made a pleasant contribution to the cultural and artistic life of the capital. Another museum that was awarded the prize is the Kenan Yavuz Ethnography Museum. This museum, named after its founder, has introduced the intangible and tangible cultural heritage of the region in an institutional way after its establishment in 2013. In this way, it was entitled to receive the 2021 Silletto Award in the ‘European Museum of the Year Awards’ competition.”

Stating that the Ahi Culture Research and Education Foundation was deemed worthy of this award as a result of its valuable efforts to keep the Ahi culture alive, Ersoy emphasized that it is of great importance to maintain the Ahi organization that was established in Anatolia in the 13th century.

Ersoy said, “I sincerely congratulate those who were deemed worthy of this special and meaningful award, given to names and institutions that played an important role in the transportation of our culture and art from the past to the waste. I would like to express once again that we will be very happy to host all our citizens in our museums, where they can spend time with pleasure in the light of the traces of history and culture.” used the phrases.
