“Bezir oil, also known as zeyrek and flax oil, has been used in the health sector in the past and today. Oil, which continues to be produced by industrial methods, was produced by the mill method in the past. Before oil was found, it was also a product used for lighting. It lits up houses with flicks and gas lamps.
Bayburt was a region where there were many bezir oil mills due to the soil structure where high-quality flax grass grew. A stone turned by the ingenuity of oxen and buffalo-type animals would crush flax grass with high pressure and extract its water, thus obtaining oil. The linseed oil stone from hundreds of years ago was adapted to the mill, which was made by simulating it.
